January 2005

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (January 2005) – C. Barry Dykes has been named  the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Desert Regional Medical Center.  Dykes replaces longtime hospital CEO Truman Gates, who retired.

“I am eager to jump in and learn about the community of the Coachella valley.  Both the challenges and warmer weather make this transition even more exciting,” said the Philadelphia native.  “I am looking forward to getting to know the staff and physicians so we can together create a vision for the future.”

Dykes graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree and earned a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia.

He is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives and the Temple University Health Administration Alumni Association.  He is a Board Member of the Greater Worcester Chamber of Commerce and Event Chair of the Special Olympics in Massachusetts.
