Everyone looks forward to the birth of a baby as a healthy, joyous event. Yet in those cases where a newborn is premature or has medical problems, it's reassuring to know that knowledgeable specialists and advanced equipment are at hand.
Desert Regional Medical Center's 30 bed State Certified Community Level Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides comprehensive care for preemies and other high-risk infants. Since it is located in the Women and Infants Center, we can help get a newborn right into treatment if needed. For high-risk infants born at other facilities, our specially equipped surface and air transport vehicles can bring them to our NICU.
The neonatal team at Desert Regional Medical Center includes neonatologists, clinical nurse specialists, neonatal nurse practitioners, registered nurses, respiratory care practitioners, occupational therapist, social workers, and discharge planners. Our services also include a follow-up developmental program for high-risk infants.
